Product Specific Information

The OKT4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed by thymocytes, T-helper cells, and at low levels on monocytes. CD4 serves as a receptor for HIV. The OKT4 antibody recognizes a different epitope than RPA-T4 and does not cross-block binding.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and validated for flow cytometry using human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.03 µg) per test in 100 µL final volume. Cell count range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

eFluor® 660 replaces Alexa Fluor® 647. Excitation: 633–647 nm; Emission: 668 nm; Laser: Red.
Ensure instrument compatibility with this fluorochrome.

Target Information

CD4 antigen is involved in MHC class II molecule recognition and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. Primarily expressed on T-helper lymphocytes, CD4 is also found on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Tissue expression includes thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain non-lymphoid tissues such as brain and gut. CD4 contributes to early T-cell activation via association with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase. It may also mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts exist (RefSeq, July 2017).
