Target Information
이 유전자는 gap junction 단백질 패밀리의 구성원을 암호화합니다. Gap junction 단백질은 세포 간 이온 및 소분자의 이동을 촉진하는 통로를 형성합니다. 염기서열 및 아미노산 서열 유사성에 따라 이 단백질들은 α형과 β형으로 구분됩니다.
이 유전자의 돌연변이는 X-연관 Charcot-Marie-Tooth 병(유전성 말초신경병증)을 유발합니다. 동일한 단백질을 암호화하는 alternative splicing 전사체 변이체가 보고되었습니다.
