CMTM3 유전자는 chemokine-like factor gene superfamily에 속하며, chemokine 및 transmembrane 4 superfamily 신호 분자와 유사한 새로운 계열입니다. 이 유전자는 염색체 16에 위치한 여러 chemokine-like factor 유전자 클러스터 중 하나이며, 서로 다른 5' UTR을 가지지만 동일한 단백질을 암호화하는 다양한 전사 변이체가 확인되었습니다.
