Target Information

Actin family proteins are highly conserved and play key roles in cell motility, structure, and integrity. Among the isoforms, alpha actins are major components of the contractile apparatus, while beta and gamma actins regulate cell motility. This antibody targets alpha actin found in skeletal muscle. Mutations in this gene are associated with various congenital myopathies, including nemaline myopathy type 3 and fiber-type disproportion, which cause muscle fiber defects.
