Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Bovine serum antibody was purified as an IgG fraction from monospecific antiserum through a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography, followed by extensive dialysis against the buffer stated above. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Biotin, anti-Rabbit Serum, and purified or partially purified Albumin (Bovine Serum). Cross-reactivity against Albumin from other sources may occur but has not been specifically determined.

Target Information

Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein comprising about one-half of the blood serum protein. It functions primarily as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones and plays a role in stabilizing extracellular fluid volume. Albumin is a globular unglycosylated serum protein with a molecular weight of approximately 65,000. Synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin, it undergoes cleavage of the N-terminal peptide before release from the rough endoplasmic reticulum. The resulting proalbumin is further processed in the Golgi vesicles to produce the secreted albumin.
