Product Description

West Nile Virus (WNV) belongs to the RNA virus family Flaviviridae and is primarily transmitted through arthropod vectors such as mosquitoes. The virus mainly infects birds but can also infect humans and pets such as cats and dogs.
Most human infections are asymptomatic; however, some cases progress to a febrile stage with flu-like symptoms known as West Nile Fever. Severe infections can become neuroinvasive, causing meningitis or encephalitis, which may be fatal.
Because WNV symptoms resemble other common diseases, early molecular-level detection is crucial for accurate diagnosis.
