Frizzled family 단백질은 Wingless type MMTV integration site family 신호 단백질의 수용체 역할을 하는 7-막관통 도메인 단백질을 암호화합니다. 대부분의 Frizzled 수용체는 β-catenin canonical signaling pathway와 연결되어 있습니다. Frizzled 8은 여러 인간 암 세포주에서 높은 발현을 보이며, 뇌, 심장, 신장, 췌장, 골격근 등에서도 발현됩니다. 다양한 조직 및 종양 라이브러리에서 ESTs가 분리되었으며, 유사한 마우스 단백질의 세포외 시스테인 풍부 도메인 구조가 결정되었습니다.
