Target Information
Component of the Polycomb group (PcG) multiprotein PRC1 complex, which maintains transcriptional repression of genes such as Hox during development. The PRC1 complex acts through chromatin remodeling and histone modification, mediating monoubiquitination of histone H2A at Lys-119. In this complex, BMI-1 is required to stimulate the E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase activity of RNF2/RING2.
