Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the keratin family, which comprises intermediate filament proteins maintaining epithelial cell integrity. Cytokeratin 20 is a major cellular protein of mature enterocytes and goblet cells and is specifically expressed in gastric and intestinal mucosa. Type I cytokeratin genes are clustered in chromosome region 17q12–q21.
