MAP kinase (ERK)는 다양한 생화학적 신호의 통합 지점으로 기능하며, MKK6는 염증성 사이토카인이나 환경적 스트레스에 반응하여 p38 MAP kinase를 인산화 및 활성화합니다.
이 단백질은 p38 MAP kinase 매개 신호전달 경로의 필수 구성 요소로서, 스트레스 유도 세포주기 정지, 전사 활성화, 세포사멸 등 다양한 세포 과정에 관여합니다.
