Product Specific Information

Reconstitution: Dissolve the protein in sterile double distilled water to a concentration of 0.2 mg/mL or lower. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted and used as soon as possible. Store aliquots under sterile conditions at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

The recombinant mouse CD4 consists of 379 amino acids. Due to glycosylation, the apparent molecular mass of rmCD4 is approximately 50–55 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.

Target Information

The CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. CD4 is primarily expressed in T helper cells but may also be found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. At the tissue level, CD4 expression is observed in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain regions of the brain and gut. CD4 facilitates early T-cell activation through its association with the T-cell receptor complex and protein tyrosine kinase Lck. It may also mediate neuronal damage in infectious and immune-related CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
