Target Information
MHC (major histocompatibility complex) class II molecules are transmembrane glycoproteins expressed on the surface of professional antigen-presenting cells such as macrophages, dendritic cells, and B cells. Before surface expression, MHC class II molecules interact with endocytosed exogenous antigens, which are then presented to T cells. The antigen-binding groove between MHC class II alpha and beta chains is open at both ends and accommodates peptides of 15–24 amino acid residues.
HLA and MHC antibodies are critical in Immunopeptidomics, enabling the identification and characterization of neoantigens through high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry.
