Target Information
MHC (major histocompatibility complex) class II molecules are transmembrane glycoproteins expressed on professional antigen-presenting cells such as macrophages, dendritic cells, and B cells. Before being displayed on the cell surface, MHC class II molecules bind endocytosed exogenous antigens, which are then presented to T cells.
The antigen-binding groove between MHC class II alpha and beta chains is open at both ends and typically accommodates peptides 15–24 amino acids long.
HLA and MHC antibodies play a critical role in immunopeptidomics, enabling identification and characterization of neoantigens via high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry.
