Target Information
This gene encodes a member of a subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). These RNA-binding proteins complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA and are involved in pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport. While primarily nuclear, some hnRNPs shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. The encoded protein contains three quasi-RRM domains that bind RNA and shares similarity with HNRPF. It may be associated with hereditary lymphedema type I. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
