This antibody has specificity for Human REG1B.

Target Information

REG1B may act as an inhibitor of spontaneous calcium carbonate precipitation. It may be associated with neuronal sprouting in the brain and with brain and pancreas regeneration.

This gene belongs to the Reg gene family (type I subclass). The protein is secreted by the exocrine pancreas and is highly similar to REG1A. REG1A is associated with islet cell regeneration and diabetogenesis, and may be involved in pancreatic lithogenesis.
Reg family members (REG1A, REGL, PAP, and REG1B) are tandemly clustered on chromosome 2p12 and may have arisen from a common ancestral gene by duplication.
