Target Information
MIF (macrophage migration inhibitory factor) is a cytokine initially described as a T cell-derived factor that inhibits macrophage migration. It was later identified as a pituitary hormone counteracting glucocorticoid action in immune regulation. MIF is secreted from macrophages and T cells in response to physiological glucocorticoid levels and counteracts steroid-induced immunosuppression, playing a key role in inflammation and immunity control.
