Target Information

The 26S proteasome is a multicatalytic proteinase complex composed of two major subcomplexes: a 20S core and a 19S regulator.

• The 20S core consists of four rings of 28 non-identical subunits (two alpha and two beta rings).
• The 19S regulator includes a base (6 ATPase and 2 non-ATPase subunits) and a lid (up to 10 non-ATPase subunits).

Proteasomes are abundant in eukaryotic cells and degrade peptides via an ATP/ubiquitin-dependent, non-lysosomal pathway.
The immunoproteasome variant plays an essential role in processing class I MHC peptides.
This gene encodes a non-ATPase subunit of the 19S regulator base.
