Description:
The 2B8 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD117 (c-Kit receptor, Steel factor receptor, stem cell factor receptor). This 145-kDa tyrosine kinase receptor is expressed on most hematopoietic progenitor cells in mouse bone marrow, as well as mast cells, where it mediates proliferation, differentiation, and activation.

• Recommended ≤ 0.125 µg/test in 100 µL final volume
• Optimal cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test

Target Information

KIT (c-KIT):
A proto-oncogene encoding a type 3 transmembrane receptor for mast cell growth factor (MGF, stem cell factor). KIT regulates growth and activation of hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells. Mutations are linked to gastrointestinal stromal tumors, mast cell disease, AML, and piebaldism. The D816V activation loop mutation is a therapeutic target in neoplastic mast cell disorders.

Upon SCF binding, c-Kit dimerizes, activating autophosphorylation (e.g., Tyr703) and downstream pathways such as Ras/ERK, PI3K, PLC-γ, and JAK/STAT. This signaling is crucial for hematopoiesis, stem cell maintenance, and gametogenesis.
