Product Specific Information

ENA2 reacts with E-selectin (CD62-E), previously designated as Endothelial Leucocyte Adhesion Molecule-1 (ELAM-1).
The antibody reacts with human endothelial cells activated with TNF-alpha, IL-1, or endotoxin.
It also reacts with cells transfected with the E-selectin gene and inhibits the adhesion of granulocytes, both neutrophilic and eosinophilic.

Target Information

Leukocytes adhere to the blood vessel endothelium during extravasation in postcapillary venules of lymph nodes.
Leukocyte adhesion also occurs in capillaries and small venules after inflammation onset.
This response involves a cascade of adhesion receptors, including selectins and members of the immunoglobulin superfamily.
E-selectin (CD62E) is an endothelial cell-specific selectin expressed only after activation with proinflammatory cytokines.
IL-1, TNF-alpha, and bacterial components such as lipopolysaccharides induce E-selectin transcription through an NFkB-dependent signaling cascade.
E-selectin is associated with blood vessel endothelium in diverse inflammatory conditions.
