Target Information
CD13 (ANPEP) is a 150–170 kDa type II transmembrane zinc-binding ectopeptidase expressed on various cell types. It is a metalloprotease that removes neutral amino acids from small peptides, activating or inactivating bioactive peptides. CD13 is involved in extracellular matrix degradation, antigen processing, and signal transduction. It plays a role in inflammatory responses, intercellular contact regulation, cell motility, and vascularization. CD13 is expressed by granulocytes, monocytes, and myeloid leukemia cells, and its expression is associated with poor carcinoma prognosis. CD13 functions as an aminopeptidase enzyme and also serves as an alpha receptor for coronavirus.
