Target Information
The small G protein GDP dissociation stimulator (smg GDS) is a regulator protein with two activities on small G proteins, including Rho and Rap1 family members and Ki-Ras. It stimulates GDP/GTP exchange reactions and inhibits membrane interactions. The encoded protein contains nine Armadillo repeats and interacts with smg GDS via these repeats. It is concentrated around the endoplasmic reticulum and phosphorylated by v-src, which reduces its affinity for smg GDS. This protein likely serves as a linker between human chromosome-associated polypeptide (HCAP) and kinesin superfamily proteins KIF3A/B, playing a role in chromosome–ATPase motor protein interactions. Several transcript variants encode different isoforms.
