Target Information
Glutamate dehydrogenase 2 (GLUD2) is a mitochondrial enzyme functioning as a homohexamer to recycle glutamate during neurotransmission. It catalyzes the reversible oxidative deamination of glutamate to alpha-ketoglutarate.
Diseases associated with GLUD2 include Parkinson Disease (Late-Onset) and Familial Hyperinsulinemic Hypoglycemia type 6. Related pathways include the GABA shunt and carbon metabolism.
