The Human MIF Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures MIF protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits to create customized multiplex panels utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation. When combining multiple Simplex kits, only one buffer kit (sold separately) is required per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on sandwich ELISA principles, using two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of a protein to quantitate multiple targets simultaneously with a Luminex instrument. These multiplex assays require as little as 25 μL of plasma or serum, or 50 μL of cell culture supernatant, and deliver analyzed results within four hours.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in one sample. Luminex beads are internally dyed with distinct fluorophore ratios, allowing spectral identification by Luminex detection systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX).

Each bead is conjugated with a specific antibody for a single target protein. Bound proteins are detected with biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE). Unlike traditional ELISA, the capture antibody in ProcartaPlex assays is bead-conjugated and free-floating in solution, enabling multiplex detection with less sample volume and higher throughput.

ProcartaPlex multiplex panels are available for multiple species (human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, and canine).
