Target Information
SFPQ (also named PSF) encodes a nuclear factor involved in splicing and regulation of gene expression. It likely forms a heteromer with NONO and participates in DNA pairing and DNA break repair.
SFPQ has been identified as a downstream target of tau; nuclear depletion and cytoplasmic accumulation of SFPQ have been observed in neurons and astrocytes of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) brains. Reduced SFPQ levels may correlate with tau pathology, suggesting a key role in neurodegenerative diseases including AD.
SFPQ protein may appear as 47 kDa, 52 kDa, or 100 kDa molecules in various cell types.
