Target Information
SNRPA1 (U2 snRNP-A) is located at gene locus 15q26.3 and encodes a 28 kDa protein, a specific component of the U2 snRNP particle. It has a unique N-terminal leucine-rich region and a hydrophobic RNA-binding C-terminal region, lacking RNP1 and RNP2 motifs found in other RNA-binding proteins. SNRPA1 associates with U2 snRNP and is involved in transcription and pre-mRNA splicing. It may play a role in cell division and proliferation. Autoantibodies against snRNP particles are often found in patients with connective tissue disorders.
