Antibody detects endogenous levels of total KIFAP3.
Target Information
The small G protein GDP dissociation stimulator (smg GDS) is a regulator protein acting on small G proteins including Rho, Rap1, and Ki-Ras. It stimulates GDP/GTP exchange and inhibits membrane interactions.
The encoded protein contains 9 Armadillo repeats and interacts with smg GDS through these repeats. It is concentrated around the endoplasmic reticulum and phosphorylated by v-src, reducing its affinity for smg GDS.
This protein may serve as a linker between human chromosome-associated polypeptide (HCAP) and KIF3A/B, a kinesin superfamily protein in the nucleus, playing a role in chromosome–ATPase motor interactions.
Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
