Target Information
KDR (FLK1, VEGFR2) is a type III receptor tyrosine kinase that binds vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) with high affinity. It is expressed early in endothelial cell development and plays a critical role in angiogenesis. The receptor’s signaling and trafficking are regulated by multiple factors, including Rab GTPase, P2Y purine nucleotide receptor, integrin αVβ3, and T-cell protein tyrosine phosphatase. Mutations in FLK1 (VEGF Receptor 2) have been implicated in infantile capillary hemangiomas.
