Target Information
The FADD protein acts as an adaptor molecule that interacts with various cell surface receptors and mediates apoptotic signals. Through its C-terminal death domain, it can be recruited by receptors such as Fas, TNFRSF25, and TRAIL-receptor, participating in death signaling. This interaction exposes the N-terminal effector domain, allowing recruitment of caspase-8 and activation of the cysteine protease cascade. Knockout studies in mice highlight its role in early T cell development.
