• Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
• For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.
• Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
• Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid.
• Dilute only prior to immediate use.
• In ELISA and other immunoreactive assays, this antibody recognizes both native and recombinant mouse GM-CSF in cell supernatants and certain body fluids.
• Useful for neutralization of mouse GM-CSF in bioassays.
• For neutralization, incubate the sample with a 1:400 dilution of the antiserum for at least 4 hours before testing.
• A control of similarly diluted normal rabbit IgG is recommended.

Target Information

The GM-CSF gene encodes a cytokine that regulates the production, differentiation, and function of macrophages and granulocytes. The active form exists as a homodimer in the extracellular space.
This gene is located in a cluster of related genes at chromosome region 5q31, associated with interstitial deletions in 5q- syndrome and acute myelogenous leukemia.
Other genes in the cluster include interleukins 4, 5, and 13.
The gene promotes tissue inflammation, and elevated levels of cytokines including GM-CSF have been observed in SARS-CoV-2 infected patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Mice lacking this gene or its receptor develop pulmonary alveolar proteinosis.
