Target Information
This gene encodes the regulatory light chain associated with cardiac myosin beta heavy chain. Calcium ions trigger phosphorylation of the regulatory light chain, which in turn initiates cardiac muscle contraction. Mutations in this gene are associated with mid-left ventricular chamber type hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
