RBBP9은 retinoblastoma와 결합하여 E2F-1을 치환함으로써 TGF-beta1의 성장 억제 효과에 대한 저항성을 부여할 수 있어 세포 변형 과정에 관여할 가능성이 있습니다. 이 유전자는 세포 증식 및 분화 조절에 중요한 역할을 하는 단백질을 암호화하며, 두 가지 스플라이스 변이체가 보고되었습니다. 그중 하나는 nonsense-mediated decay 후보입니다.
