This antibody detects endogenous levels of total STK3.

Target Information

STK3 (MST2) is a member of the STE kinase family that functions upstream of the MAP kinase signaling pathways. It is activated by pro-apoptotic stimuli such as staurosporine and FAS ligand. STK3 acts as a stress-activated, pro-apoptotic kinase that, after caspase cleavage, translocates to the nucleus to induce chromatin condensation and DNA fragmentation. It is a key component of the Hippo signaling pathway, which regulates organ size and tumor suppression by restricting proliferation and promoting apoptosis.
The core Hippo pathway involves a kinase cascade where STK3/MST2 and STK4/MST1, along with SAV1, phosphorylate and activate LATS1/2 and MOB1. This leads to phosphorylation and inactivation of the YAP1 oncoprotein and WWTR1/TAZ, preventing their nuclear translocation and subsequent activation of proliferation-related genes. STK3/MST2 and STK4/MST1 are essential for repressing hepatocyte proliferation, preventing activation of adult liver stem cells, and inhibiting tumor formation.
