Red fluorescent protein (TagRFP) derived from Entacmaea quadricolor eqFP611 (Uniprot ID: Q8ISF8) is a valuable tool in biotechnology and cell biology as a spectrally distinct companion or substitute for green fluorescent protein (GFP; from Aequorea jellyfish).

  • Pigment protein with stable emission across pH 4–10
  • Maturation via green intermediate, complete within 12 hours
  • High-temperature expression may induce oligomerization
  • Abs(max): 559 nm (minor peak at 525 nm)
