Target Information

Aquaporin-8 (AQP8) is a water channel protein encoded by the AQP8 gene in humans. It belongs to the aquaporin family of small integral membrane proteins related to the major intrinsic protein (MIP or AQP0).
AQP8 mRNA is expressed predominantly in the pancreas and colon, forming a water-specific, mercury-sensitive channel. It is not permeable to glycerol or urea.
