Target Information
Uteroglobin, also known as Clara cell phospholipid-binding protein, is a multifunctional protein belonging to the Secretoglobin superfamily. It exhibits anti-inflammatory and anti-tumorigenic properties by binding small hydrophobic molecules such as phospholipids and prostaglandins.
This small, non-glycosylated protein is highly expressed in pre-implantation embryos and secreted by non-ciliated Clara cells in pulmonary airway epithelia. Members of the Secretoglobin family are small secretory homo- or heterodimers with high structural conservation.
Uteroglobin has been implicated in the inhibition of cell migration and invasion, platelet aggregation, and T cell differentiation, in addition to sequestering pro-inflammatory mediators and carcinogens.
