Target Information
The Golgi apparatus participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids in the secretory pathway and consists of stacked cisternae. Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are important for Golgi reorganization after mitosis. GOLGA5 encodes a coiled-coil membrane protein involved in vesicle tethering and docking. Translocations with the RET proto-oncogene have been observed in tumor tissues, forming chimeric sequences RET-II and PTC5.
