Applied Biosystems™ NGM Detect™ PCR Amplification Kit

The Applied Biosystems NGM Detect PCR Amplification Kit is the first 6-dye STR kit designed specifically for laboratories using the European Standard Set (ESS) of loci. The kit offers excellent sensitivity and provides an alternate marker configuration to the well-established NGM SElect PCR Amplification Kit format to maximize information recovery, even from degraded casework samples.

As with all Applied Biosystems STR kits, the NGM Detect kit is ISO18385 Forensic DNA Grade, ensuring confidence for casework sample processing.

Increased Database Searches

The ESS of loci was established to enable cross-border information sharing and expanded to 12 loci in 2009. Many historic crime-scene profiles contain SGM/SEFiler Plus marker data.
The NGM Detect kit utilizes 6 dyes and optimized marker positioning to ensure high compatibility with these historic datasets, improving chances of generating investigative leads.

Optimized Positioning of SE33

SE33, a highly polymorphic marker, typically extends up to 500 bp and may drop out in degraded samples. In NGM Detect, SE33 extends only to 351 bp, increasing recovery likelihood from challenging samples.

Dual Amplification Compatibility

Using NGM Detect with NGM SElect allows dual amplification for confirmation and extended profiling. The kits share loci but differ in primer sequences and marker positioning, enabling recovery of additional alleles from degraded samples. Together, they deliver 12 independent mini-STRs.

Integrated Quality Control System (IQC)

The IQC assay includes two synthetic sequences with specific primers, confirming assay validity and distinguishing degraded samples from those with PCR inhibitors. This supports accurate data interpretation and downstream processing decisions.
