Target Information
Centromere and kinetochore proteins are essential for centromere structure, kinetochore formation, and sister chromatid separation.
CENPH colocalizes with inner kinetochore plate proteins CENP-A and CENP-C during interphase and metaphase.
It localizes outside of centromeric heterochromatin (CENP-B region) and inside the kinetochore corona (CENP-E region during prometaphase).
CENPH can bind to itself and to CENP-A, CENP-B, or CENP-C, forming multimers that constitutively localize to the inner kinetochore plate, playing a key role in centromere-kinetochore complex organization and function.
