Target Information
This gene encodes a ubiquitously expressed nuclear protein belonging to a conserved subfamily of WD-repeat proteins. It participates in complexes involved in histone acetylation and chromatin assembly, including the Mi-2 complex associated with chromatin remodeling and transcriptional repression. The protein is part of co-repressor complexes integral to transcriptional silencing and interacts with retinoblastoma protein to regulate cell proliferation. It also contributes to repression of E2F-responsive genes. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
