Target Information
HS3ST1 is the rate-limiting enzyme for synthesis of anticoagulant heparan sulfate (HSact). It performs the key modification step in the biosynthesis of HSact, completing the antithrombin pentasaccharide binding site structure.
Heparan sulfate biosynthetic enzymes generate diverse fine structures responsible for multiple biological activities.
The HS3ST1 enzyme is an intraluminal Golgi resident protein possessing heparan sulfate glucosaminyl 3-O-sulfotransferase activity and anticoagulant heparan sulfate conversion activity.
