Target Information
LKB1 (also known as STK11, Serine/threonine-protein kinase STK11) is a tumor suppressor and a member of the serine/threonine kinase family.
It interacts with p53 and regulates p53-dependent apoptosis pathways. LKB1 localizes in both the cytoplasm and nucleus, and translocates to mitochondria during apoptosis.
As a master upstream kinase, LKB1 regulates AMPK and AMPK-related kinases. Mutations in the LKB1 gene are associated with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome.
