Product Specific Information
- In sandwich ELISAs, less than 3% cross-reactivity with recombinant human IGFBP-5 is observed.
- Less than 0.3% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse IGF-I, IGF-II, IGFBP-1, IGFBP-2, IGFBP-3, and IGFBP-6.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
Target Information
The insulin-like growth factor-binding proteins (IGFBPs) are a family of homologous proteins that co-evolved with insulin-like growth factors (IGFs).
They function as shuttle molecules for soluble IGFs and regulate IGF signaling by modulating their bioavailability, concentration, and distribution.
IGFBPs also exhibit IGF-independent biological activities. Seven IGFBPs have been identified, each differing in tissue distribution, half-life, and regulatory characteristics.
IGFBP5, secreted by myoblasts, is thought to play an important role in muscle differentiation.
