This antibody detects endogenous levels of total NDUFAF2 protein.

Target Information

Mimitin is a small mitochondrial protein whose transcription is directly stimulated by c-Myc and is highly expressed in 80% of esophageal squamous cell carcinomas (ESCC). Suppression of Mimitin expression by RNA interference had no effect in certain cancer cell lines but reduced proliferation in glioblastoma, embryonic lung fibroblastic cells, and ESCC, indicating a specific role in these cells. Mimitin expression is regulated by MAPK kinases and IL-1, but not via the NF-kappa-B pathway. It interacts with microtubular protein MAP1S and influences caspase-3 and -7 activities during apoptosis. Additional studies suggest Mimitin acts as a molecular chaperone for mitochondrial complex I assembly.
