Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of PKC alpha only when phosphorylated at Tyr195.
Target Information
The PKC family of serine/threonine kinases, including PRKCA (PKC alpha), is activated intracellularly by signal transduction pathways. In humans, at least 12 different PKC isoforms have been identified, differing in structure, tissue distribution, localization, and substrate specificity. PKC alpha, beta I, beta II, and gamma form the conventional family, which are Ca²⁺- and phospholipid-dependent. PKC family members phosphorylate diverse protein targets and are involved in multiple signaling pathways, serving as receptors for phorbol esters. PKC alpha plays roles in cell adhesion, transformation, cell cycle regulation, and cardiac contractility.
