Target Information
The DOK7 protein is essential for neuromuscular synaptogenesis. It functions in aneural activation of muscle-specific receptor kinase (MuSK), which is required for postsynaptic differentiation and clustering of acetylcholine receptors in myotubes. DOK7 can induce autophosphorylation of MuSK. Mutations in this gene cause familial limb-girdle myasthenia autosomal recessive (congenital myasthenic syndrome type 1B). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
