PPARγ (Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma)는 핵 수용체 계열의 PPAR 하위군에 속하는 단백질로, RXR(retinoid X receptor)과 이합체를 형성하여 다양한 유전자의 전사를 조절합니다.
PPARα, PPARδ, PPARγ 세 가지 아형이 알려져 있으며, PPARγ는 지방세포 분화의 주요 조절자로 작용합니다.
또한 비만, 당뇨병, 동맥경화증 및 암 등의 질환 병리학적 과정에도 관여하는 것으로 보고되었습니다.
여러 가지 스플라이싱 변이체가 존재하며, 각각 다른 동형 단백질을 암호화합니다.
