Target Information

The de novo synthesis of pyrimidine nucleotides is essential for mammalian cell proliferation. This gene encodes a trifunctional protein with the enzymatic activities of the first three enzymes in the pyrimidine biosynthesis pathway: carbamoylphosphate synthetase (CPS II), aspartate transcarbamoylase, and dihydroorotase.
It is regulated by the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascade, linking MAPK activation to pyrimidine nucleotide biosynthesis.
