AMPD3는 AMP deaminase 유전자 패밀리에 속하는 효소로, adenosine monophosphate를 inosine monophosphate로 탈아민화하는 반응을 촉매합니다. 이는 adenylate 대사 경로의 가지점에 해당합니다. 본 단백질은 적혈구(E) isoform이며, 근육(M) 및 간(L) 세포에서는 다른 isoform이 주로 발현됩니다.
이 유전자의 돌연변이는 임상적으로 무증상인 상염색체 열성 질환인 적혈구 AMP deaminase 결핍을 초래할 수 있습니다.
