Target Information
The LEF1 gene encodes a transcription factor belonging to a family of proteins sharing homology with high mobility group protein-1.
This protein binds to a key site in the T-cell receptor-alpha enhancer, conferring maximal enhancer activity.
It participates in the Wnt signaling pathway and may function in hair cell differentiation and follicle morphogenesis.
Mutations have been associated with somatic sebaceous tumors and other cancers, including androgen-independent prostate cancer.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
