Perlecan은 모든 basement membrane과 세포 표면에서 발견되는 주요 heparan-sulfate proteoglycan(HSPG)입니다. 성장 인자를 저장하고 보호하는 역할로 인해 종양 세포 성장과 전이 행동 조절에 중요한 역할을 합니다. Perlecan은 FGF-2의 coreceptor로 작용하여 혈관신생 및 성장 촉진 기능을 가지며, 그 억제는 종양 성장과 신생혈관 형성을 저해합니다. 따라서 Perlecan은 종양 진행의 핵심 조절자로서 치료적 표적이 될 수 있습니다.
